Annual Spring Banquet
The Beta of Louisiana Chapter held its 61st Annual Spring Banquet on April 15, 2010. Dr. Leigh Neumayer, 2010 AΩA Visiting Professor from the University of Utah, addressed the attendees on the topic of work-life balance. Dr. Neumayer is a busy and accomplished surgeon, educator, researcher, and mother of three children.
Dr. Michael "Kemp" Amacker received the 2010 AΩA Volunteer Clinical Faculty Award. Dr. Amacker never fails to find time to educate medical students, effortlessly integrating teaching into his daily routine.
The AΩA Administrative Recognition Award was presented to Ms. Bobbie Millet, who works tirelessly to ensure the school's medical students do all that is necessary to graduate and pursue residencies in their chosen careers. Ms. Bobbie somehow finds time to also help coordinate the chapter's nomination process and plan for the annual banquet.

The chapter proudly welcomed thirty-seven new members. Students are nominated with special emphasis on service, leadership, and research. Two of the new junior student members, Catharine Wolfe and William Steffes, received scholarships from the chapter in recognition of both high academic performance and extraordinary service to their community and colleagues.
The Chapter's senior student members presented gifts in recognition of Dr. Peter DeBlieux, chapter councilor; Dr. Fred Lopez, chapter secretary-treasurer; and Dr. Joseph Delcarpio, Dean of Student Affairs, for their ongoing support of the chapter's activities.
