Student Research Fellowship: Tulane University

Michael Strong, a Tulane Medical School freshman, has been awarded a 2010 AΩA Carolyn L. Kuckein Student Research Fellowship. The focus of his research project is "The genetic basis for cerebral vasospasm after subarachnoid hemorrhage (hemorrhagic strokes)." The fellowship provides $5,000 to support his research and an additional $1,000 for travel to present his results at a national meeting. There were many applicants for this award which testifies to the quality and promise of his research.
The AΩA Chapter at Tulane has been very active, having also received national AΩA funding for a community medical support project at Covenant House.
