Alpha Omega Alpha Elects New Officers and Directors for 2013
Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society is pleased to announce the election of its officers for the 2012/2013 year:
PresidentC. Bruce Alexander, MD, Professor and Vice Chair of the Department of Pathology at the University of Albama at Birmingham. Dr. Alexander was elected to AΩA as a student in 1970 at the University of Virginia. He was secretary-treasurer of the UAB chapter in 1992 through 1999 and chapter councilor from 1999 through 2009. Dr. Alexander was elected to the board of directors of AΩA in 2002 as a councilor director, and subsequently elected as member at large in 2005. He became secretary-treasurer of the society in 2007.
President ElectJohn Tooker, MD, MBA, MACP, is the Emeritus Executive Vice President and CEO of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Tooker served as Executive Vice president and Chief Executive Officer of ACP from 2002 through 2010. Dr. Tooker was elected to AΩA as a student member in 1970 at the University of Colorado. He served as Medical Organization Member on the AΩA Board of Directors from 2009 through 2011, and was subsequently elected as a member at large in 2011.
Immediate Past PresidentRuth-Marie Fincher, MD, MACP, Emeritus Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor of Medicine at the Georgia Health Sciences Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Fincher was elected to AΩA in 1976 as a faculty member at the Medical College of Georgia. She was elected to the board of directors of AΩA in 2003, and was awarded the AΩA Robert J. Glaser Distinguished Teacher Award in 1996. Dr. Fincher served as president of the society in 2011/2012.
Lynn M. Cleary, MD, Senior Associate Dean for Education, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Distinguished Teaching Professor and Professor of Medicine, State University of New York Upstate Medical University was elected to a three-year term as Councilor Director. Dr. Cleary was elected to AΩA as a student at Ohio State University in 1978 and has served as councilor of the Upstate AΩA chapter since 2003.
Alan G. Robinson, MD, Associate Vice Chancellor, Senior Associate Dean, and Distinguished Professor of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, was elected to a three-year term as Member at Large. Dr. Robinson was elected to AΩA as a faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh in 1988.
Sheryl Pfeil, MD, Associate Professor of Clinical Internal Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition, and Medical Director of Clinical Skills Education and Assessment at the Ohio State University College of Medicine, was elected to a three-year term as Member at Large. Dr. Pfeil was elected to AΩA in 1984 as a student at Ohio State. She has been the AΩA councilor at Ohio State since 2009 and was previously a Councilor Director on the Board of Directors.
Christopher Clark, MSIV at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine, was elected to a three-year term as Student Director. Mr. Clark is the AΩA chapter president at the University of Mississippi and was elected to AΩA in 2012.
